Parish Life

The role and purpose of this committee is to promote the involvement of parishioners through outreach and welcoming programs and events in order to enhance the Christian life of the parish in its social dimensions.

To achieve a better understanding by the Parish of the ministries and groups available, the first task accomplished by the Parish Life Committee was the Parish Booklet. This book lists all available ministries and groups that our parishioners may join. The booklet was updated in 2008.

In 2005, we had our first Parish Ministry Fair. All Parish groups and ministries had a display at the Fair. The Parishioners were invited after all Masses and they could see what the groups and ministries had to offer. Our second Fair was held in 2007 and we are planning another Fair in 2010!

The committee also welcomed actor Leonard DeFillipis and his one man show "Maximillian: Saint of Auschwitz" for a performance in August of 2007.

Our biggest goal so far as been the formation of Parish Neighborhoods. Through the use of a new diocesan software, all parishioners were plotted into groups. Each group has at least one contact person. The hope is that our very large Parish will seem more neighborly. The Vigil Mass honoring our patroness for December 8, 2009 marked the beginning of this new and exciting concept.
